this is what i just picked up from the grocery store. it cost $32. Thirty. two. dollars. for 1 pineapple, 2 bags of grapes, a small container of raspberries, 1 soft drink and 2/$1 nuts….
do you know how much junk food i could have for $32? do you have any clue how much McDonald’s you can get for $32?
stop shaming fat people poorer than you or people poorer than you in general for not eating healthier. stop lying about how cheap it is or how it’s comparable to fast food. just stop.
i’m not hating on anyone or anything, but all that being $32 is probably because of overpriced grocery stores. grocery stores will always be ridiculous because they pay for their produce to be brought in from other countries and they make hella money off tripling the price. if you buy from local produce shops, it’ll be a lot cheaper, you’re helping out local farmers, and there isn’t a lot of fuel being used to bring it to you.
this was all for $23 from the produce mart 10 minutes from my house. i gave up processed and junk food for a healthier life. i’m really tired of seeing people say it’s too expensive. you just have to look around for the right prices. i don’t know about prices in other parts of the country though so sorry if that’s what it is. i’m not trying to start fights with this.
i’m saving money by eating healthy and having food that’ll last me a good week, rather than spending $20 on 2 burgers, fries, and a shake. STOP buying your produce from grocery stores, your wallet will thank you.
EDIT: since i’m already getting hate. i get that this isn’t available to everyone so readily. so IF IT IS, you’ve learned something. if not, i’m sorry it’s not accessible and i hope it is soon.
What the original poster bought wasn’t even super “healthy”, just a bunch of sugar. Vegetables are usually WAY cheaper than fruit and are better for you. The first picture is not something you want to sustain life by eating
